When we talk to folks on the streets of Rockland about what they'd like to see for the town, two things invariably come up first.
"More art galleries!" they exclaim.
"More Ada's!" they yell, mouths beginning to froth.
But what if I told you we could have both?
And they could be in the same space?
"You're fucking high," you'd undoubtedly respond.
Perhaps. But we're also deadly serious.
Apparently the pop-up venue and gallery will feature menus ranging from "casual to fine dining and dinners will be held on a weekly and monthly basis."
Sounds well thought out! (the calendar of events doesn't list any events for the next year, but it does still work as a calendar)
Adas-holics will be pleased to know that the same impeccable tastemakers responsible for the restaurant's vom-art have done it again at this hip new spot.
But wait! There is one bit of intriguing information on the website.
"The gallery will primarily feature the work of local artist Richard Rockwell."
It seems so obvious now! How did we go this long without knowing. Why didn't anyone tell us?
It reminds us of a car ride not too long ago when someone tried to trick us into listening to their own music without telling us it was theirs in an ill-fated attempt to get honest feedback. The night did not end well.
A general rule of thumb for all you aspiring creatives out there: if you have to make your own venue to show your art work, it might not be that great! And if you have to open a second gallery to show more of your work, you might consider a new hobby.
Glad we're giving him tax breaks though for improving the building!
